My mom always used to, well actually still does make this for us, and it’s when something like this appears on my plate, all my vows to “not-carb” go out the window.
Best enjoyed slightly warm with lashings of butter and extra cheddar cheese.
Cheese and Herb loaf
A simple, yet delicious cheese and herb loaf, easy to master.

Ingredients
- 2cups cake flour
- 2tbsp sugargranulated
- 1/2tsp garlic salt
- 3tsp baking powder
- 60ml oilvegetable/canola
- 1 1/4cups milk
- 1 egglarge
- 1tbsp thymechopped
- 1tbsp rosemarychopped
- 1tbsp garlic chiveschopped
- 1cup mature cheddar cheesegrated
- 1tsp paprikeuse smoked if you have
- butterfor serving
- cheddar cheesefor serving
Instructions
- Mix the milk, egg and oil
- Place the remaining ingredients, except the cheese and paprika in a bowl. Slowly add the milk mix, whilst mixing
- Add a 3/4 of the cup of cheese and stir to combine
- Pour into a greased medium sized loaf tin
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese and paprika on top of the loaf
- Bake for 45 minutes
- Remove and allow to rest in the tin for 10 minutes
- Remove to a wire rack to cool further
- Serve whilst still warm with butter and extra cheese
