Join me as I talk all things food on #Hashtag Radio

I’m always surprised at how life and the universe conspires to make your dreams come true if you stick to following your passion, work hard and well, just have a good dose of faith. I say this because slowly but surely I seem to be ticking off things from my food journey bucket list. First there was the publishing of the Gourmet Sisters cookbook, which I co-wrote with friend and fellow Masterchef SA contestant, Ilse Fourie and then this week sees the start of an exciting venture for me as I join the #Hashtag Radio team to talk all things food, from the reviewing of restaurants, to talking trends and also what’s hot or not in the world of food. Now for those of you who know me, I have no issue with talking, this is therefore so up my alley and I cannot wait to get started.

#HashtagRadio is a launchpad for entrepreneurs, SME’s, charities, artists, DJ’s and events. It is also, for me, such a special station as it places a huge focus on motivation and upliftment. I’m therefore super excited to be a part of the team.

So what exactly will I be covering you may ask…

Well I have always said that I loved growing up in Cape Town because there is such huge cultural diversity when it comes to food, we know and understand that ‘local is lekker’ but at the same time we offer a wide range of international fare as well. We have 8 out of the 10 top ten restaurants in South Africa right here (as judged by the Eat Out awards at the end of 2013) and we also have two restaurants which place in the world’s top 100. This is alone gives me enough to talk about, but we are also seeing the rise of some superstar young chef’s too. There are markets a plenty and what is also exciting is to see pop-up dining taking off, from events held in secret locations, to dinners where you cook components of the meal yourself, also dinners where food is paired to music (see blog post on The Soundbites Society)

Food is trending right now, so the question isn’t what will I be covering, but rather what will I not?

My aim is to bring you all the latest news on where I’ve been dining to finding hidden restaurant gems, who to watch in the world of food, interviews with some of our incredibly talented chef’s, where to get speciality ingredients, food tips, tricks and so much more.

I go live Thursday the 11th of September at 12H15, so tune in for the first installment of #FoodInspired on #Hashtag Radio – http://hashtagrad.io/
