Yubari King Melons
Although similar in look to a normal cantaloupe these are incredibly sweet and are in such demand that they are usually auctioned off. A business man once paid almost $23 000.00 to take a pair of the fruit home.
Densuke Black Watermelon
These melons grow on the island of Hokkaido in japan. They are incredibly rare and a harvest will only yield a few dozen. They are hardy, crisp and sweet. A fruit coming in at about 8kg’s can go for just over $6000.00
Saffron
Incredibly difficult to harvest as it must be done by hand, saffron requires about 75 000 strands to make up about 500g. This amount can fetch $2700.00. The high quality saffron brings in about $15 per gram. It is however incredibly unique and boast many health benefits.
