The frenchSUNSET pop-up picnic experience is back! Bigger, brighter and better than before
Paint the Mother City blue, white and red this March at the much-anticipated sunset experience with a South African twist

After a super successful inaugural event in 2014, the frenchSUNSET pop-up picnic is, once again, about to add some much-needed joie de vivre to the Cape Town social calendar on Saturday, 9th April 2016. This time around, the must-do event is taking place at the Glenellen Farm in Hout Bay.
frenchSUNSET is not your average pop-up picnic. In fact, the al fresco dining is but a small aspect of the entire event. Think of it as an escape to sunny, sweet Paris without the hassle of boarding a plane. A true French experience with an Mzansi twist, this impromptu shindig offers you a day out in the Cape Winelands with mouth-watering delicacies, live entertainment, cooking demos and so much more.
And what better way to introduce newbies and delight the fundies to the Parisian lifestyles than through food.
Ticket-holders each receive a welcome basket including authentic French cheeses (specially imported for the event), a bottle of one of SA’s finest wines and much more.
Aside from tucking into yummy delicacies, you can also enjoy a string of amazing, yet diverse, talent throughout the day.
A brand new addition to this year’s line-up is a cooking demonstration led by two French chefs. The Cape Town-based Nadège Lepoittevin-Dassé will give you tips on how to be a master in your own kitchen while she cooks up a culinary storm. Executive pastry chef to France’s parliamentarians Kamel Hamzaoui heads especially to the Mother City to demonstrate some of his sweet skills in the dessert department.

Siv Ngesi is back at the fiesta as the host as well as the day’s comedic relief while Kyle Louw returns to perform more of his poignant poetry. French singer Savannah as well as Mapumba and band are scheduled to get those feet tapping and hips swaying throughout the day.
After the sun sets, a night-time movie screening will take place (pack in something warm for if the weather turns), and later the evening DJs Didier and Ozy from La French Connection will drop jammin’ beats to keep those feet shuffling into the night.
As a family-friendly event (kids younger than 15 get in for free) there is, of course, something for the younger ones too, and no kiddies corner is complete without a jumping castle; little ones can also look forward to a puppet show and much more.
It goes without saying that the theme for the event is blue, white and red (the colours of France’s flag) and you are invited to dress the part – whether it’s one colour, two or even all three (no sneakers or T-shirts will be allowed).
This pop-up picnic and party is the perfect way to spend the day in the sun with food, friends and fellow fun-lovers. Attendees can either opt for a seat at one of the large, lengthwise communal tables (bring your own décor to create a festive feel) or find a spot on the expansive greens to set up your own pocket of pleasure. From couples to larger groups of friends, this outdoor event is the perfect spot to mingle and enjoy the summer sun in one of Cape Town’s most coveted suburbs.
Aside from all the French fun on the cards for the day, attendees also stand a chance to win big on the day. One very lucky winner will walk (or rather, fly) away with a trip to Europe for two! So, remember to not leave too early or you will miss out on this awesome prize.
Tickets can be bought via the website www(dot)frenchsunset(dot)co(dot)za or Computicket(dot)com. Early bird prices start from December 2015… and are available until the 6 March 2016
