Shopping at Christmas time can be a rather daunting task. Now whilst this time of the year is supposed to be all about festive cheer, and celebrating with loved ones, the thought of stepping into a shopping mall fills most with dread, well it certainly does me.
Luckily for us, the world of online purchasing has made Christmas shopping a far more manageable task. And web based shopping portals like YuppieChef have in fact made the process so pleasurable you’ll never want to do your Christmas shopping any other way.
Now to make things even easier I’ve compiled a list of 10 items that they stock and deliver, and that I would have on my Christmas wishlist any day, so if you have a foodie loved one and you’ve have been wondering what to get them…if their kitchen is missing any of these, go on, buy it. Trust me they’ll love you forever.
1.) Every half descent cook needs a good quality non-stick pan. I would recommend the Le Creuset non-stick range. Having cooked with it for years, for me, I don’t think there is a product that could compare.

2.) A Chef’s knife is an essential to any cook. No more needs to be said. If your loved one doesn’t own one. Please purchase.
3.) A pestle and mortar – for making spice blends, and curry pastes and nut crumbles. I simply adore mine and it would be a bare kitchen without it.
4.) A microplane – the most useful tool for adding lemon zest to dishes, and I think everything is better with a bit of zest. I definitely couldn’t live without mine!
5.) For quick, delicious stir-fries sure enough to impress any guest a wok is essential. It’s quick to get to temperature and the flash frying of the meat ensures moist and tender mouthfulls each time.
6.) With banting all the rage this spiral julienne slicer will make courgette noodles a breeze.
7.) Sticking with slicing I think that a Mandoline is essential, perfect for even slices, well, of everything. Every time.
8.) If you are a meat lover, a braai lover, a lover of roasts, then this is for you – a marinade injector. Want to get all of the beautiful flavours of your marinade right into the meat? Then you have to get this.
9.) Poultry shears – making portioning your chicken a breeze. It is one of my mom’s favourite kitchen tools. Mine too!
10.) A burger press – now whilst not a kitchen essential, if you are like me you’ll agree that shop bought burgers cannot compare to the ones you prepare yourself. This makes the process that much easier. Perfectly even burgers, always.
