THE TEST KITCHEN WOWS AGAIN AT THE WORLD’S 50 BEST RESTAURANT AWARDS IN NEW YORK CITY

The Test Kitchen, based in the Mother City, Cape Town walked away with the prestigious award of being placed 22nd at the 2016 World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards and Best Restaurant on the continent.  This respected awards ceremony commenced in New York, USA, at the Cipriani Wall Street.

The owner of The Test Kitchen, Chef Luke Dale-Roberts was completely delighted upon receiving this award. He added, “The award is an incredible vote of confidence for me and my team. I do what I love, with precision and artistry, and being awarded for this validates what I do every day!

The Test Kitchen is a space that offers a well-moving experience where Chef Roberts execute his professional cheffing techniques, his appetite for flavour and world-class stimulation into his dish creations.

The Test Kitchen is no stranger to receiving prestigious awards. This is the fourth year that the restaurant got listed on The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards. The restaurant made its dominant mark in the industry after receiving their first award, which was the Cacao Barry One to Watch Award in 2013. Moreover, The Test Kitchen also acquired the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Winner of Continental Restaurant Awards .

The Test Kitchen seems to be an award magnet. The restaurant has frequently obtained a variety of local as well as international awards since its launch in 2010. Elite Traveller listed the restaurant in the Top 100 Restaurants in 2015. Locally, The Test Kitchen was named Restaurant of the Year from 2012 to 2015 by the Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards and received Two Plates in the new South African JHP Gourmet Guide.

To improve services rendered, The Test Kitchen will close for mid-August for a complete restaurant facelift, refurbishment and interior improvements. Chef Roberts says that, “It will be smaller, more intimate, and we will only do dinners there. It’s time to redefine this creative space, which has always been my focus in terms of creating the most flavourful, exciting and challenging food. We are constantly innovating and refining the food according to our Test Kitchen philosophy and with the reimagined space the entire experience of dining here will be redefined.”

The new and improved Test Kitchen will re-open on the 04 August where the restaurants guest can brace themselves for a brand new experience.

The sister restaurant of The Test Kitchen; The Pot Luck Club, which is located on the in the Silo building at The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, is a chic hub, which continues to amaze diners with its unique tapas conception. Deriving inspiration from around the world, the dishes are rich in flavour and touch. The venue consists of a 360-degree view of the city and the Manhattan loft feel and open kitchen compliments the profound energy at the venue.

2016 has also seen Dale-Roberts launch Luke Dale-Roberts at The Saxon, which is an exclusive boutique hotel in Johannesburg. Here diners are fêted with his signature fare.

Shortmarket Club, in the heart of Cape Town, is a partnership venture between Dale-Roberts, his wife Sandalene, chef Wesley Randles and manager Simon Widdison. Opening on 27th June, it’s set to be one of the trendiest spots in the Mother City. Chef Roberts tells us that, “The Test Kitchen is at the heart of what I do.”
